Small things I encounter everyday on my commute through the Botanic Gardens of Singapore. It takes the golden light of an early evening just after a heavy thunderstorm to notice them: the dry leaves the trees shed all year round in the absence of autumn in this equatorial metropolis and the army of South Asian gardeners collecting them before you notice. The many fruits I still don’t know. The omnipresent brides and girlfriends being photographed with very expensive equipment. And my fellow commuters engrossed in the private little worlds of their smartphone screens.
